To make things clear and transparent, here’s everything you need to know about shipping, customs, and duties when ordering from us here the UK.

08/27/25 - Royal Mail has currently suspended regular services to the USA whilst implementing their new PDDP system, leaving us no choice but pause our fulfilment to the USA. We are aiming towards working in conjunction with both of our shipping providers to offer a duties calculated and paid at checkout option.

Our products are designed in the UK and carefully manufactured in China before being shipped to you.

U.S. Customs determines import duties based on the country of manufacture, not where the parcel is shipped from. Because our products are made in China, U.S. Customs may apply an import duty of around 10-25% of your order value.

Until now, many orders under $800 USD entered the U.S. without duties.
From August 29th 2025, this exemption (de minimis) will no longer apply. This means all orders may be subject to duties, regardless of value.

Our shipping providers are Royal Mail (passed to USPS) and DHL. Both of these providers are calculating duties at the normal tariff rate (around 22% for riding apparel).

Yes, with our current structure, U.S. Customs may apply an import duty of 10–25% depending on classification.
It no longer applies to courier shipments after August 29, 2025.
Not entirely — but duties are usually lower with couriers than with postal shipping, depending on your order value and product classification.
U.S. Customs (or the courier on their behalf) collects fees before delivery.
Yes — we’re currently implementing a DDP (Delivery Duties Paid) feature to our website. This will mean there are no surprise costs. Your customs and duties will be calculated and paid at checkout.
We are also in the process of exploring U.S. based fulfillment, which would mean no duties for you at all. We don't want to stop providing you with the cutest riding fits at an affordable price!

All orders shipped to the United States are currently being sent on a Delivered at Place (DAP) basis. This means:
- Import duties, tariffs, and customs fees are not included in your checkout.
- These fees are determined by U.S. Customs and are the responsibility of you, the customer (the importer of record).
- If you refuse to pay these fees and your order is returned to us, we will refund the product cost minus any customs charges, return shipping fees, and handling costs incurred by Black Heart Equestrian.
- If we have already paid duties or fees on your behalf to release the goods, these amounts will also be deducted from your refund.
- By placing an order with us, you agree to these terms.
